In December 2009, Jamie Staub invited Jim Meeuwenberg to speak about his Vietnam experience to students in her  American History Honors Class at Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies in Metairie LA.  Jim reports that he enjoyed this opportunity to relate his experience and answer questions. The students were most attentive, responsive and respectful.   At the conclusion of the discussion, Jim was presented with the proceeds of a class Bake Sale to pay for the cost of American Flags for families of our 13 KIA Unit members. These flags will be presented at our ceremony in June.

Subsequently Jim received 23 poignant and sincere letters from these remarkable students expressing their thanks for enhancing their knowledge of the plight of the Vietnam veteran during and after the war.

This is Jim’s third such presentation in recent months and he encourages other members to seize the opportunity to do likewise.
